Again it was only an 80 mile flight. Too short to file IFR. Wonder why the would take a Lear Jet for a 15 minute flight? Very expensive option with bad results.

It might have been 80 miles but you are still dealing with a high Performance jet aircraft. Lear's are fast. 500mph at 40,000ft and it takes a lot of speed to keep it in the air. So things happen Fast when you are flying low. When the pilot went from IFR to VFR and wanted a different runway the sharp turn on "Final" to the "new" runway caused the jet to stall and the plane fell to the ground.

They were probably flying to their home base. It was at night and after probably a long day everyone wanted to get home.
