Enrique Granados, the most famous Spanish pianist and composer of the past 200 years, refused to tour because of a pathological fear of being on sea going vessels.

Finally, he was convinced to do a tour of North America. He spent several months touring the U.S., was tremendously successful, played with all the great orchestras, before returning to Europe in 1914.

He shipped out on the S.S. Lusitania, got torpedoed and died within sight of Ireland.

There was a full page newspaper ad warning people about that voyage of the Lusitania.

However, The Lusitania was sunk by U-20 in May of 1915.
