Nobody said we did apart from you mentioning it.
Last I looked, most of the population of this planet live outside America. And they use energy too.
It takes 20-25 years to go from deciding to build a nuclear to actually getting the power out

This electric vehicle mania would die on the vine if anyone actually looked at the details and the government didn't distort the market.
Actually, Tesla has gotten ZERO government EV subsidies in the last 2 years, yet Tesla sold twice as many EV’s as the rest of the car manufacturers combined. And Tesla is making very good profits right now.
I used to work for GA Power. Just getting another unit added to plant Vogel took about 15 years from the time they started planning it until it came online. And that was just adding a unit to an existing plant. No site acquisition costs and legal stuff with the site.

My point is the same as the main article - 1. that government subsidies ie. our money prop up a large portion of Musk’s empire. Let the undistorted marketplace determine the price and demand. And 2. We do not have the capacity to switch from fossil fuel in the car to fossil fuel in the power plant for any substantial fraction of our country’s transportation needs.
