Whatever happened to acid rain?
Man that was a HUGE deal in the 70s...
Good. My tax mobey should not be used to “save the planet” especially when two of earth’s most populous countries do not give a rip about the planet.
Dear Atlantic Writer:
Such an excellent article you published.
But somehow I missed the part where you explained how the 4.5% of the worlds population that lives in the U.S. can raise taxes on themselves with the resultant lowering of their standard of living, pour money into to the hands politically favored corporations and bureaucracies and save the world.
Did you forget to add that?
Fear mongering is the last ditch effort of the fraudulent.
Think of the implications of this lunatic journalist’s post: If one man is responsible for destroying the whole planet, is there any limit to what a mob could do to him? Would they not be justified in abducting him and lynching him?
They should all kill themselves to save themselves from suffering horribly as the planet dies. OH wait. Omicron is going to kill us all.
It was, like all the the other apocalypses, overhyped.

The acid rain problem in Europe and North America has largely abated because of stronger SO2 and NOx emission controls, such as the U.S. Clean Air Act of 1970, the Canada–United States Air Quality Agreement in 1991, and similar measures in Europe. In the United States the first phase of emission reductions took effect in 1995, and subsequent reductions followed. Such effective emission controls have not spread to all countries, however. As developing countries such as India and China have industrialized, their emissions of SO2 and NOx have increased. This same pattern can be observed in some of the quickly growing urban areas in Latin America and Africa, which has resulted in more acidic rain and other acid deposition falling both within and downwind of those regions.
Do we get the standard “Ten years left”?
“Whatever happened to acid rain?

The name always morphs when the fear starts to wear off.
Acid Rain became Chem Trails a long time ago.
So I was thinking of buying a new car next year. I guess I should just hang onto my old one if the world is ending and all.
Oh noes! 🙄
I bet he has some kind of back-door access to an editor or higher up.
This is now the way.
Everything is now framed in apocalyptic terms. Recently hitlery said we “lose our democracy” should a certain individual regain the white house.
The warming cult has been playing this tune for a long time.
Now it’s the loss of phony gubmint programs that are going to bring on the End Times.
Riiiiight.
Gaia is upset, bro.
I thought we lost the planet when the last ice age started in the 70’s. Oh, wait . . .
Yogi Berra - it’s hard to predict anything especially the future.
The climate scammers have put out deadlines and “point of no return” warnings every year or two for the past several decades. If you believe any of them we’re already doomed a dozen times over. This sensationalism is no different.
The Atlantic is packed with morons.
A sane response would be a welcome relief but there isn't anything like that on the left, one of whose fundamental beliefs is that control of the language is control of thought, and here we see that global warming turned to climate change turned to climate crisis and yes, I've actually seen "climate catastrophe" - that none of that nonsense is having much of an effect. By "political rupture" the author means violence, but what the left really desires and the only thing adequate to the task is worldwide authoritarian control. In short, nothing has really changed.
BULL CRAP
There was a woman on TV a few days ago-—Topic: NOT putting food waste into landfills.
Well groomed-—appeared rational-—UNTIL:
She told the interviewer “It takes 400 YEARS for a head of lettuce to decompose in the landfill”.
I must have special talents-—I can get a head of lettuce to decompose in less than 2 weeks in my refrigerator.
400 YEARS !!!!!!
