Masks are getting hard to sell these days. I was in Lewisburg the other day. Home to Bucknell U, and a deeper blue bruise in the midst of red PA you will not find. I must have seen a few hundred people. Maybe one in fifty had a mask on. And of course I’d bet the vast majority are vaccinated and consider themselves utterly safe from covid, for that. But unless ordered to do so, by their wise overlords, they will not mask up again. They don’t reject authority, but they’re normal enough to reject fear.
It is interesting the contrast between where you live and where my wife and I live. In Western Washington very few people are seen without masks on in grocery stores, the post office, or even the Home Depot. People are even wearing them while they are pumping gas. We have an idiot for a governor and the local news is blasting fear porn 24/7. It is so ridiculous that it feels like some sort of alternate reality.
