Here is what EVERYONE needs to know about “retired generals”.
There are three kinds.....
1) those who actually retire and live outside the beltway bubble - tend to be conservative
2) those who take jobs outside of DC (outside the bubble) - tend to be conservative
3) and the majority, those who cash in on their rank and stay inside the bubble to work as lobbyist, consultants, and most commonly take board positions with companies doing work with the federal government. The board position gig is very lucrative and easy work. This group affiliates with democrat/big government policies like 90% plus of the bubble.
If you bother to go through this letter or those written to bash Trump in the last few years you can check where they are on the list above via a simple web search. It would make for an interesting and easy investigative journalist project. I promise you the pro and negative Trump letters would be eye-opening and follow this closely.
Follow the money. These men are playing politics to increase or protect their earning potential inside the beltway. When a “flag officer” pulls 6 figure positions (often several) inside the swamp working for swamp companies or lobbying congress are they really giving their military view or simply echoing the desires of those who pay them?
The Pentagon has become a true swamp where MOST of those wearing stars are worried more about their retirement gigs than they are about our national defense. Just my .02
I was also the Dining Facility Officer, where I grew exceedingly weary of retired field grade officers. They liked to use my dining facility for their meetings, and usually got upset when they weren't waited on hand and foot.
They liked to bitch to my CO, and of course the fecal matter rolled downhill.
Perhaps I shouldn't have said "of course". My last Battalion Commander in Germany would have told them to get their own damn coffee, his soldiers had better things to do.
