If the planned spinoff of ATT’s broadcasting properties, and their merger with Discovery Network occurs, the CEO of CNN Zucker is supposed to be leaving. Expect new management to clean house and restructure the network resulting in many of the sacred cows leaving. If CNN returns to reporting hard news, adds truly objective investigative journalists, clearly separates editorial commentary from news reporting, and is “fair and balanced” in its reporting, it has the potential to recapture its position as the #1 news network from FOX. If new management wants to gain market share and increase earnings dramatically, the “fair and balanced” positioning is a proven winner and is there for the taking.
It’s too late for CNN to be redeemed.
