I find that those men who are the most apt to buy into the interchangeability of men and women tend to be the least different from women. If we assume a spectrum of femininity<->masculinity, there are men who reside physically or psychologically or both, more towards the middle, and others who reside more farther out to the masculine end. To those in the middle, the differences between men and women might not seem that great, and so they are more likely to accept the idea of interchangeability.

But to those who reside way out on the masculine side, the differences between men and women are so stark that it is like comparing two different species.

Speaking for myself, I am so physically different from women (I am a rather large fellow) that there can be no comparison between us. No woman in her right mind would ever assume she could match me physically in ANYTHING.

I am also quite psychologically different from women, being a STEM guy, among other things, and I have never met a woman who thinks anything like I do (by which I mean in the manner that I do) and I have known some really smart women.

So, my view on traditional roles is absolutely informed by the lifelong observable stark differences between the masculine and the feminine, to the point where I have been forced to reject the pop social views of interchangeability, and arrive at a more practical outlook that our forefathers have had since time immemorial. Your perspective, however, may be informed by a different location on that spectrum.

You do make me smile. Why should any woman want to best you physically? That is why women need a sports segment that is only women. Otherwise they would be outclassed and their efforts count for naught.

You are all about the physical differences and I am all about abilities, the mind and character. Women tend to have certain character traits but there is a normal curve as you seem to understand, a spectrum.

My mother was a very feminine woman but she was a mechanical engineer, and a superb draftsman.

Many women found they were able to make contributions during the war. I think it was the entry of women into the business world during the war when they were needed that changed the dynamic of women at home, men at work, not liberalism. Women realized they had aptitudes and could contribute in many ways and that it was fulfilling to develop & use their abilities.

People should be able to use their talents and contribute their efforts to society. The purest joy in the world is to make a difference using your talents, intelligence and grit.

It matters less where you are on a spectrum of traditional manly vs womanly traits, such a scale is flawed because once you move away from physical the classifications are arbitrary and stereotyped. It matters what the gestalt of a person is and how they view themselves & the world.

You are so focused on the differences and not on the similarities. It is wrong to bind people to the bigotry of low expectations. That act has caused most of the problems in our society. That fact is true for men as well as women. One of the most evil effects of the left is the unmanning of America where boys are made to be ashamed of their own natures.

We need people to be allowed to be masculine and to be feminine, to be allowed to strive to fulfill their dreams & ambitions. We need to return to merit and effort based promotions. Women should not be pushed forward if they are not able to do the job, are not able to win it competitively. That is not to say that their sex should block opportunity for there are some women who can excel in typically masculine pursuits. In no way should quota be utilized for sex or for race, that is evil and hurts the institution, the community, the Nation and the individual who is robbed of the triumphs they might have earned and are forever corrupted at the core.

Equality means an equal opportunity to prove yourself by your efforts & drive, to achieve on an equal playing ground, where your efforts not skin color, family connections, sex, or any other quota or factor not based on the job you do and your worth to the company is the measure of your ability to advance.

What stupid pussy hat wearing people have tried to make the word “equality” mean is of no import. It is the raving of lunatics. America does not meet the standard of equality of opportunity but we have made progress (not lately where zealots have pushed a distorted world view) The measure of America’s uniqueness is that we respect equality and strive to create opportunities for all Americans to achieve their dreams by their efforts.
