No.
I recall a "hate crime incident" on a northeast campus a year or so ago. It was proven to be yet another hoax, by a black student. The university said the specific facts didn't matter. Racism was real, and so the incident (they refused to call it a hoax) should be used as a teaching moment, with all the white students learning about their privilege.
Facts don't matter. The "truth" of racism does.
I'm sure Ivy League universities will invite Smollet to "share your truth with our students." And he will be well paid for his "truth."
It wasn’t solely a faux hate crime so much as a multifaceted idea culminating towards resumé padding. No matter who got hurt.
Ask any Chicago beat cop on up to the chief. They know a punk when they come across one.
What’s ironic is that Schmo committed a hate crime which carries a much heavier weight than if he would just committed a regular confidence scam.
Seeing how regular ol’ codes and statutes laws just weren’t enough the left decided to add in that hate crime caveat which is now entangling one of their own.
“Fake” is a four letter F word.
That is how I feel. Have you heard the latest absurdity? Calling “faggot” an F word. Stupid faggots!
Yep...he’s done.
1. Who cares?
2. Either all crimes are hate crimes, or no crimes are hate crimes. Crime is crime. Just because someone’s skin is a boutique color doesn’t make him special.
It is a good thing that hate crime reports are taken seriously and thoroughly investigated. Maybe future hoaxers will be deterred.
There is a hilarious series on Netflix called Episodes with Matt LeBlanc who plays an aging celebrity. Women throw themselves at Matt. Matt performs an embarrassing sex act that goes viral on the internet.
His two young boys learn about it at school and are shamed. His ex wife makes him explain his bad behavior to the boys. Matt says what can we learn from the episode? Sometimes we all do bad things. If you ever think about doing a bad thing, always look for the cameras first. His ex rolls her eyes out of her head. Hilarious scene.

I thought he was going for the poor me black man racist Trump supporter mantra and now you’re telling me he was instead going for the poor me gay man sexist Trump supporter mantra?
Who was really behind the Jussie Smollett hoax?
He was the stooge that played the hoax but who planted the idea in his pea-brain and pointed him in that direction?
They’ll be less likely to report fake hate crimes
No but they are absolutely less likely to fake a hate crime.
Will Gays Be Less Likely to Report Hate Crimes Because of Jussie Smollett’s Hoax?
And more importantly, does anyone care?

I’ve reached that point too.
Well Smollet’s Hollywood ....”
Any one directer wanna give it a chance?
No production would want to endanger their interests in hiring a potential lawsuit looking for a place to happen. At this point Smollet’s reputation is squat and it won’t smell better with age.
/\
Barry and Mike will give him a corporate seat an Netflix
That’s just a hunch.
Yo! Listen a.i. spell check, I’m sick of your crap, hunch is a word, why did you change it to bunch 4 times before you left my spelling alone ? Go suck face with Alexa.
they deny the truth that Matthew Shepard’s murder was not a Hate Crime. The answer is apparent
Maybe it will make them more hesitant to tell lies to the police. Isn’t that what he was prosecuted for?
Had Smollett’s attack actually occurred as he described, what punishment would the perps be looking at? Shouldn’t Smollett be looking at a similar punishment?
“Shouldn’t Smollett be looking at a similar punishment?”
His little stunt cost the Chicago Police Department over $300,000, wasted the valuable time of skilled investigators, and then countless hours of a Special Prosecutor all over a line of BS so obvious you could see it from orbit.
Not to mention that he deliberately tried to inflame the already smoldering racial tensions in this country just so he could get a raise in pay.
The Judge should throw them book at him.
