Well, actually it’s Dominic Black’s gun, and I believe it’s still a piece of evidence in Binger’s prosecution of Black, so I don’t think Rittenhouse or Black are free to do anything with it at this time.

Although I'm torn, I ultimately agree with your point. On the one hand, it's a viable weapon, and if Rittenhouse didn't want to be associated with it, he could always sell it. However, there's always the possibility that the buyer would be unstable, seeing the weapon as some kind of symbol and eventually using it to "make a name for himself".
But as you said, it's his to do with as he deems fit.
Amen, his gun, his choice. And those are his memories he has to live with. Of both the killing and the trials where he was called everything but Satan.
