As usual, the only reason they can be charged is that they ran their mouths to law enforcement when initially interviewed.
No sympathy for them, of course, but it is another lesson for all - never speak to the police about anything, ever, except pointing them in the direction of a fleeing perp. Let the lawyers do the talking.

These parents are horrible examples for how families should be. I don’t think we should make them out as some sort of heroes. That’s a bridge way to far.
I think you are correct about all of that especially the drugs.
I thank God I have not walked in their shoes.
We need to follow due process. They are innocent until proved guilty.
The charges seem way overblown.
The real culprit here is the Media.
They live for school shootings they can weaponize, such as this one.
Please tell us exactly what laws they violated.
Seriously, we only know a little less than the attorneys do since the kid has invoked his constitutional right to remain silent.
