Pence failed to do his duty. It was a difficult task for a strong man, and he wasn’t up to it. Just like CJ Roberts, he took the cowards way out.
The thing that gets me is, it didn’t even have to be all that heroic. All he had to say was something like, “Several states are still examining their vote totals, and I do not want to interfere with their ongoing work. Therefore, I believe we should delay certification until that work is complete.”
Not too difficult.
