Who here remembers the Viet Nam protests of the 70s? I lived in Carbondale IL when the National Guard was called out to try to keep the piece. (Fun fact: they were housed in the Girl's Gym for several weeks. And there were several teen pregnancies that resulted...but I digress.) Tear gas, the works.

Then there was that little problem at Kent State.

So there is precedent for calling out the Guard.

I have a home near Carbondale, it is in Marion, a nice area that is blighted by the madness that is Chicago...

Detroit riots.

The 82nd and 101st were called in for that one. That was besides the NG and state police etal.

What started it? A after hours going away party the Detroit cops raided.
