There is another way to look at this omicron variant. If it is true that the variant is highly communicable but if contracted the individual only suffers a very mild illness, then this variant may break the back of the COVID19 pandemic. Infected people would develop immunity not only to the Omicron variant, but as in past viral pandemics, quite possibly immunity to the virulent variants of COVID-19. Milk maid who contracted cow pox, were immune to small pox. This led to the first vaccinations against a deadly viral illness.
