I’m not blaming him, I’m answering the other poster’s question of how could they even claim self defense.
A different approach I would have done is run into the woods. They had a truck and are white guys. I’m guessing the young black male is faster...

Ummm put my hands up and surrender. They said he was under arrest. He resisted and tried to grab the barrel of the gun. Wanna guess how that would have turned out? Who the hell grabs the barrel of a shotgun anyways?

In this situation I’d sit and wait with them till the cops got there, which would have been what happened. Then I’d sue for false imprisonment.
