Strangely enough it's a racial trait that also helped free the slaves, set up fair systems of law, and half way houses for drug addicts. Unfortunately 'white guilt' can be played against us by lowlifes. We need to come to grips with the reality sometimes it's NOT our job to make things better... and to more carefully assess requests and needs and unintended consequences...

Despite being a woman of color, she polls worse with blacks than she does with affluent white women. What the Hell is it with white guilt? Why is it a thing?
