"Broaden that out a little bit... What about protecting your community? What about helping the injured? What about making sure a business owner isn’t destroyed?

Can you possibly imagine those as legitimate motives to show up?"

Almost every state prosecutes vigorously people who put the value of property above the value of a life

So you can’t shoot people who are burning your business, much less a business not your own.

You will also find that “protecting your community” is not a valid defense in court.

He wasn't protecting property, he was protecting his life against men who tried to disable, disarm, and possibly kill him.

You're mixing up the apples and the oranges.

Remember, you're the one who said KR never should've been there in the first place. We've given you plenty good reasons for a concerned citizen to be involved. Then when he was attacked, he exercised the right of self defense.

There is a terrible riot going on outside your yard, about a block down the street. People are getting hurt, buildings are burning... would you give your 17 year old son an AR-15 and tell him to go solve the problem...or would you call the cops? And remember, the reason for the trouble is that the city officials are not supporting the cops. The cops are not there because they know they will be stabbed in the back by the mayor and his pals....so you would be sending him into a mess that the cops will not touch. You would not.

Probably most of us would not. But for the brave souls who do go, the least we owe them is our respect and gratitude for having something heroic deep inside that you and I apparently lack. What sickens me is the armchair quarterbacks calling morning-after plays from their computer screen about "never should have gone in the first place." Thank God the whole world isn't full of these "wise" people who talk big and do nothing.

A lot of words, but completely barren of logic.

Of course he had the right to protect himself once he was attacked. Never have I said anything different.

But a riot is no place for a 17 year old.

Maybe a 37 year old with experience in violent situations, but never a 7 year old.

Twist it any way you want, that does not change.
