The Newsome candidate might work as a salable proposition. It is all about presenting reassuring images to the crowds. The candidates must look healthy and confident in media exposure.

What the electorate may want does not matter in the slightest. But what the electorate can tolerate does make some difference, at least for a while. The electorate can tolerate soothing words and pretty lies far longer than I ever expected.

I am imagining that they will try to sell us a "Unity" team consisting of a Democrat President and a Republican Vice-President to "bring us all together" in solving the crisis of the hour.

They will need "bi-partisan support" as they tighten the screws on the rest of us.

Traditional place for the VP is on the sidelines. Her only real job is to preside over the Senate and vote to break ties. The first VP, John Adams, was so disliked that the Senate basically wrote rules to negate virtually all of his powers to preside.
