I get the sense that no one or very few people in this forum know that the trucking industry has been transformed. The average truck driver does not speak English, does not go into the truck stop restaurant. He doesn’t typically shower at the truckstop anymore. He can only read the simple highway signs, anything that would require more than a cursory knowledge of English and he will have to guess at its meaning. Mini trucks have one legitimate CDL license holder and an additional one or 2 passengers Who will drive as a relief driver but they are not certified to drive. When the truck gets pulled over, the CDL license holder will present asThe legitimate operator, and his brothers or cousins will simply claim to be authorized passengers.

I have worked on a lot of trucks where the whole family lives in that truck. Not so much anymore because of mechanical inspections, but back in the 80s they would cut a whole in the floor so that they would not have to stop to use the potty. Those we refused to crawl under and work on.

Your description of the average truck driver in this country does not match my observations. While I’ve seen see loamy Hispanics driving big rigs I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of Indian decent, assuming you mean from India and not the domestic variety. It doesn’t match statistics either: “Using a database of 30 million profiles, Zippia estimates demographics and statistics for Professional Truck Drivers in the United States. Our estimates are verified against BLS, Census, and current job openings data for accuracy. After extensive research and analysis, Zippia's data science team found that:

There are over 672,788 Professional Truck Drivers currently employed in the United States.

16.7% of all Professional Truck Drivers are women, while 80.0% are men. The average age of an employed Professional Truck Driver is 47 years old. The most common ethnicity of Professional Truck Drivers is White (62.4%), followed by Hispanic or Latino (16.9%) and Black or African American (14.1%).

The majority of Professional Truck Drivers are located in UT, Salt Lake City and NE, Omaha.”

What happened to all the white truckers? I’ve got two friends who were truckers, a white woman and a white man. Both retired, but when they drive most truckers were white males.

What happened to them all?
