Hundreds of UK troops reportedly ready to deploy at Ukraine border

Hundreds of British special force troops are ready to deploy to the Ukranian border at a moment’s notice, amid rising tensions and fears of a possible Russian invasion in the region, according to reports.

The UK’s Special Air Service and Parachute Regiment are prepared to enter the region with medics, engineers, signalers, and hundred of paratroopers, The Mirror reported.

“The high readiness element of the brigade was told it may need to deploy at very short notice, a source told The Mirror.

“Between 400 and 600 troops are ready. Their equipment is packed and they are ready to fly to Ukraine and either land or parachute in. They have trained for both eventualities.”

The military move comes after the European Union accused Belarus, which borders both the Ukraine and Poland, of manufacturing a humanitarian crisis by urging migrants to illegally cross into the EU via Poland.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, an ally of Russia’s Vladimir Putin, has denied any wrongdoing.

Hundreds of British paratroopers supported by artillery units could drop into the region within 36 hours of authorization, senior defense sources told the paper.

Britain’s highest ranking military officer, General Sir Nick Carter, told Times Radio in an interview expected to air Sunday, that Russia poses a significant and real risk to the West.

Obama did not provide anti-tank missiles to the Ukraine. Trump did. That’s all it took to quiet the Russians down. Biden is probably following the Obama script of non-support to US allies, tacitly supporting our enemies.

Are these the same Brits that walloped our Marines in the desert a week or two ago?

I suppose war IS a net-zero game. Nobody wins.

Our girls and transgenders don’t have much to offer, from a military perspective.

“[what does] an average American citizen gain from the corrupt deep state involving itself in Ukraine.?”

What if the Ukrainians send another billion to Brandon, calm his jangled senile nerves and make him less war-like so we don’t have to send troops to Ukraine?

War is a negative sum game. The loser loses more than the winner gains.

That said, surrender, or something like it, is a losing strategy.

Reagan said it best, “Peace through strength.” It worked so well in fact that the Russian communist empire fell apart. It turned out to be victory through strength.

“BTW re your tagline... I also shop at walmart, but eat at Burger King :-)”

Nice, but hopefully you keep it to yourself. One can only imagine the ABJECT ABUSE you’ll get both here and in your personal life if you EVER mentioned going to any of those places.

I used to love it at WalMart when my Moderna vax chip would set off the door alarm and I’d have to outrun the chubby mask sheriff. Those were the days...

Post print edition said something about Belarus threatening to stop the oil flow through the pipeline. That would affect all of Europe.

Also mentioned that Putin is not happy and said he would talk to Lukashenko.

UK troops have as much business in the Ukraine as Russian troops do in Ireland.

People underestimate the importance of Military materiel. But for US materiel, Hitler defeats Stalin. With US materiel, the Israelis win the 6 day war. With US Materiel a permanent peace ensues between North and South Vietnam. (The Democratic Congress cut off materiel to South Vietnam. Victory for communism, no victory for Richard Nixon, win-win for Dems.)

Churchill often mentioned that “shipping” was his number one problem in WW2.

RE: Not My Circus. Not My Monkeys.

Yes. Can someone let me know 1) what vital interests to the US are involved in risking all for Ukraine vs. Russia?

2) What interests are same for Taiwan vs. China involvement by US?

After the useless deaths and maiming of young men (no females then in military) in the Vietnam War, in the peace afterward which McCain and others made smiling, backslapping business deals with the new leaders of Vietnam (Communists).

Since I was a child (yes, born in the same weeks as President Trump in 1946 I was taught to duck and cover under my grade school desk) I wondered if someday the leaders of either side would unleash an all out nuclear war.
Fail Safe, Dr.Strangelove and One the Beach were some of the grim movies I saw and novels I read.

I would wonder what exactly triggered it (no TV or radio to report why bombs blew up the cities) and who was at fault. We would soon be dead and only Slim Pickens would be whooping as he died.

To me, none of this (or another Afghanistan or Iraq) is worth our lives. And not worth dying to give a victory to the Dems, either.

Lukashenko has also threatened to cut off natural gas supplies running from Russia and through his country into Europe - though that threat was angrily slapped down by Moscow today.

It was gas, not oil. This is from the new thread article just posted.
