People shouldn't support the military in taxes if there are no wars going on or if they don't have a child in the military. Same logic.

In order for democracy to work, the voters must be educated to point where they can make sound voting decisions. The Founders all state that in various ways. A basic education SHOULD also keep people off the welfare roles. So, to ensure that our society can function, it is necessary to ensure The People have a basic education.

You'd be well advised to turn your argument from not participating toward getting your money's worth.

The Constitution authorizes taxes for the common defence, but not for education.
