This appears to be one of those scenarios where we invited ourselves into a foreign country and then express outrage when someone doesn't like it; it's
chutzpah to the nth degree, but we're good at it.
(It's an American thing; most people outside of this country wouldn't understand it.)

Well, sure we did. And all that military equipment should have gone to the Kurds. They would take the appropriate actions and bring peace to the living.
