Here’s what doesn’t make sense. The Maryland Governor’s Covid advisor says 40% of deaths in Maryland in the last 6-8 weeks were fully vaccinated. If the vaccines are effective most or almost ALL of the cases over the last 8 weeks must also be fully vaccinated.
Which means the unvaccinated are doing better than the vaccinated and now represent a minority of cases.
Somebody better get their story straight because their numbers don’t make sense with their claims.

If 80% of a population of 100,000 (all older than 12) is vaccinated then 20% of that same population are unvaccinated.
Assume that this same population experiences 100 deaths and that 40% of such deaths are among the vaccinated.
That would mean that 40 people died among the 80,000 vaccinated and the other 60 died among the 20,000 unvaccinated.
The death rate among the vaccinated would be 40 per 80,000. The death rate among the unvaccinated would be 60 per 20,000 or 240 per 80,000. The RATE of death among the unvaccinated would then be six times greater than among the vaccinated.
You can certainly argue about whether the cost of such benefit is worthwhile. You can argue about whether the level of effectiveness is sufficient to meet certain goals.
What you can't argue is whether or not having one vaccinated person die instead of six unvaccinated is a good thing, in and of itself.
