The jabs were working great for the original strain. Once it mutated it became much less effective. Similar to flu, last years flu vaccine doesn’t work very well against this years new strain.....however it does off some protection (10% vs 50%). Probably not worth the side effects for the very healthy but likely beneficial for the frail.
Besides the mRNA vaccine is only give you antigens against the spike protein....not as effective as getting a dead piece of the virus with multiple antigen sites.....thus you can still get infected. That’s the price you pay for getting a rapid vaccine to market with this newer technology. Also a reason why they will not likely make flu shots based on mRNA.
