San Francisco is in the grips of an unprecedented drug epidemic as fentanyl floods the street-drug marketplace, intensifying the peril of addiction and leading to a staggering number of overdose deaths.

Correct you are. Saint George Floyd was the only person in the world who did not die from COVID 19.
If they apply their usual gun-control logic then obviously the answer to the fentanyl problem is to make it harder for you to buy Advil at the local Walgreens.
If they apply their border-security logic then obviously the answer is to tell all the drug users to come to SF and they won't be prosecuted, they'll be taken care of.
If they apply their anti-fascism logic then obviously the answer is to set up their own drug supply and distribution line while loudly proclaiming they are fighting drug use.
If they apply their fair-election logic then the answer is simply to change the numbers being reported and declare victory over the drug problem.
Why isn’t the FDA putting out a statement saying “Why Y’all taking a horse tranqulizer?”
It might come to that.
We haven’t had ongoing fake biological terrorism.yet.
Not counting the plandemic.
Would be an effective way to controll the masses.
All part of the restrict and limit the movement of legal citizens.
Keep fear alive.
And Chinese bureaucrats of the day didn't do anything about it either, until it was too late.
Correct. Radio station here in Raleigh, NC had two county sheriffs on this morning who said the same. They also noted that since Biden took office the price of heroin on the street has dropped dramatically. Supply is way up.
They shoot up right on the streets in full view of the public - I’ve seen it for myself.
Meanwhile, the entrenched Democrat pols in SF are more worried about changing the name of George Washington Elementary School (he was an evil slave-holder, don’t you know), painting over “evil” murals and “getting down” unmasked with friends (mayor London Breed who said she couldn’t help herself when the music came on)than they are about the homeless and the wretched quality of life because of it in SF.
I have thought for years that systematic exile of druggies would solve a lot of problems. The problem is, we'd need a very large reservation, preferably an island that could be effectively quarantined. Airdrop sufficient supplies and any liberal do-gooders who want to try rehab work. Let nature take its course.
This has literally nothing to do with pot.
Pot is a harmless plant. In it’s thousands and thousands of years of use, not one single person has ever overdosed on weed. It’s simply impossible.
Heroin is a horrible drug. It robs people of their lives, their ability to live their lives. Putting heroin in the same catagory as weed is like comparing a beer after dinner to a glass of bleach.
Prior to meeting my aunt’s friend I thought that Fentanyl was purely a street drug.
Turns out doctors also prescribe it for severe pain.
They should probably stop prescribing opioids for pain as that drives a lot of people into opiod addiction.

Once the danger of opium addiction was realized, the Chinese imperial government tried to stop the flow. And that (among other things) lead to the Opium Wars. China suffered humiliating defeats in those wars. As dfwgator noted, the Chinese have not forgotten that.
They’ve got a score to settle with the West. And they’ve got a score to settle with Japan.
Actually, China is legally bringing in precursor chemicals to Mexico. Then it’s turned in to fentanyl. (That’s my understanding.) Otherwise it would be a lot easier to stop on the high seas. But the laws are such that it’s difficult as the US Navy would have to do the interdiction and the individual shipments are legal and it would cause a much higher level issue between countries as opposed to a lower level drug issue with non-national (gangs) players. Everyone seems to be perfectly happy with the situation as it is today.
Probably the way to approach this is to get Xi to arrest the players who are paying the money to his peer competitors as he is doing with Evergrand, Ant and others. Those businesses are being shut down because they are loyal to Xi’s competitors in the party.
Of course probably at most 1% of Americans even know about The Opium Wars.
Forget it Jake, it’s Chinatown..,
“Give every druggie a one way ticket to SF and let the problem solve itself.”
I’m in S.F., and believe me, it seems like someone had this idea before you.
That’s how you fight a War on Drugs.
Sad, but too true.
What do you know about the East India Tea Company?
