I’m an historian. I don’t rely on simplistic dictionary definitions for complex issues.
I could go into why I don’t agree with the term fascist in this case, but it would involve a fairly long essay and I have absolutely confidence, you’d be willing to even contemplate changing your mind, given you seem to have difficultly with even the most basic concept that under Australia’s constitution, the Prime Minister doesn’t have the type of power you think he does.
Fascism is fascism, and what is happening in your country (and ours too) is a form of fascism. If you don’t believe in dictionary definitions, where do you get your definition of fascism from? You can’t ascertain it when you see it in action in your own country?
I suppose you also differ then with Mark Levin, a Constitional expert, stating that Biden’s regime is exhibiting what he calls American Marxism, or do you not believe this either. Levin wrote a book entitled American Marxism. Perhaps you might want to read it. Actually, both Fascism and Marxism are kissing cousins, both are of the left (socialism) and both are ultimately authoritarian dictatorships.
I believe at this stage our gov’t is more fascist in character as Biden has yet to try to take control of the economy by nationalizing companies and centralizing and controlling the means of their operation. He would fail in any attempt to do so as those oligarchs he now is using either willingly or unwillingly, would turn on him big-time. Biden instead is strong arming and/or partnering with these oligarchs and their economic institutions/corporations to do his bidding, just like Hitler did.
If puppet Prez Biden (or those pulling his strings) succeeds in this, and he’s well on his way with the effort, then the next step would undoubtedly be further centralization of most aspects of the economy, and thus veer into Marxism if these hard-core socialists could pull it off. I hope it never comes to this.
Reagan said we are always one generation away from a socialist dictatorship. Biden, if allowed to get away with it, is doing it in a one two-year period of time. Australia is also teetering on an autocratic dictatorship if Aussies don’t fight back. Actually, they are attempting to do so, but they are unarmed.
Fascism (Merriam Webster): a centralized autocratic government [your States] headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.
If this shoe fits, then you wear it. I’d be much more alarmed for your country if I were you.
