Now that you piqued my interest about the old anthrax debate from the 90's, I dug this up in my email (copied and pasted), from the AF Times quoting the Newport News Daily Press in 2005.

It's sad, and tragic, though almost comical the predictability of these government bureaucrats, and their propensity to lie, even years after the fact.

Subject: Fwd: Air Force Times Early Bird Brief Date: Wed, 7 Dec 2005 01:43:21 EST ANTHRAX Special Report: Anthrax Puzzle An Incomplete Picture (Newport News Daily Press, December 4, 2005, Pg. 1) The Pentagon never told Congress about more than 20,000 hospitalizations involving troops who had taken the anthrax vaccine, despite repeated promises that such cases would be publicly disclosed, records obtained by the Daily Press show. Instead, a parade of generals and Defense Department officials told Congress and the public that fewer than 100 persons were hospitalized or became seriously ill after receiving the shot from 1998 through 2000. Special Report: Anthrax Puzzle Anthrax Shot: A Choice Of Risks (Newport News Daily Press, December 5, 2005, Pg. 1) For many local veterans, life before and after the military's anthrax vaccine was like day and night. Virginia Beach's Bill Noel went from easygoing dad to uptight and angry father before dying. Others went from fit to debilitated. The changes followed the vaccinations, but were they because of the shot? Or was it coincidence? These veterans and their families are sure that the anthrax vaccine was the cause. The Pentagon is equally adamant that it wasn't.
