” But up until now, we didn’t know what happens when those trees decompose.”

Yes, we did!

Dying trees should be illegal. How dare you?

And all these forest fires and volcanoes...are contributing what to the atmosphere.

“Shouldn’t that read “dead wood”?”

Sounds like it’s time for some common sense deadwood control.

The ‘blue’ Of the blue mountains of appalachia is named for the blue haze of the warm summertime. Guess what causes the haze? Yep, decaying vegetation.

THIS is the very reason that the GREEN PEOPLE say we need “clean energy” because MOMMA EARTH is farting so much!!

“new study by an international team of scientists.”

The universities in Canada and the Upper Midwest did studies on this decades ago.

They just didnt get up on a perch and yell it to get attention like these did.

BTW..what is peat? Its decaying plant material. When you burn the boreal forests, like some do every year, it exposes that peat (perma frost) to constant freeze and thaw releasing CO2.

It was never about carbon dioxide, it was about taxation and control. Always a false premise the pranksters refuse to abandon. What breaks down tress? Fungi, that is the real problem but not if you want a forest hundreds of feet tall of undegraded wood. Think what a forest fire would be then!

Simple solution, just make all trees immortal.

Decaying wood releases around 10.9 gigatons of carbon worldwide every year, according to a new study by an international team of scientists.

Oooooh nooooo!

Dead trees have been decaying for millions of years on the Earth, since before the age of the dinosaurs. I don’t think it’s a problem. If the “best” scientists now think it’s a problem, they best check their premisses.

my, i guess they better clean out all our forests of dead wood to save muvver erff- Get busy all you tree hugger planet worshippers-

oh, and devise a way to tax and fine the forests for their carbon output!

” But up until now, we didn’t know what happens when those trees decompose. It turns out, it has a massive impact.”

Martians tried to stop CO2 emissions. Look what happened to their planet. No trees. No CO2. No atmosphere to speak of.

You sir, have it 100% correct.

One acre of young healthy growing trees take up how many tons of pollutants? And release as much oxygen into the air?

Been a while..cant remember.

Here is what will happen after they have left the forests in CA go rogue.

Those areas have burned. Those trees cool the ground and allow for evaporation. Now, the rains will NOT fall into those areas like they did when those areas were managed for forest products. Those burned trees will release vast amounts of CO2 into the air since...there are no trees to absorb it and those burned trees will continue to release CO2 through the decaying process.
Aside from that, as you said, tons and tons of mercury and other pollutants (CO2) have been released through the fires.

Several Upper Midwest, and Canadian universities did a study years ago and predicted what will happen if forests are left to go rogue and burn.

But, the fire bugs will soon appear on here and claim that fire is GOOOOOOD.
Maybe it was a short sighted way to manage the base structures of forests lands years ago, but today with the machinery we have, we can mange most if not all those commercial forest lands and through the logging process, simulate burn. Even brush lands can be mulched by machinery with the brush grinders that are mounted on excavators.

Aside from all that. Drax energy in the UK has opened another wood pellet plant in AR to produce wood pellets to be shipped to the UK for the generation of electricity.

How the hell can they do it and ship that far and we cant here? Even with government subsidies it cant be feasible.

***But up until now, we didn’t know what happens when those trees decompose.***

Strange. I was taught in high school science that decayed wood releases carbon dioxide. That was sixty years ago.
