These four words are helping spread vaccine misinformation

Four little words — "do your own research" — are hurting the US pandemic response, CNN's chief media correspondent Brian Stelter said on "Reliable Sources" Sunday. And it is having real consequences as personalities from Nicki Minaj to Sean Hannity continue to promote the idea.

Minaj helped raise doubts about Covid-19 vaccines on Twitter last week, claiming she would only get the shots once she'd "done enough research." It may seem like a reasonable, even positive, attitude, and it is a favored talking point echoed by many in the right-wing media. The problem is that most people simply don't know how to do their own research, especially when it comes to understanding the complexities of medical science.

That's because many of the subtle differences between understanding scientific research that is still theoretical versus that which has been tested and widely agreed upon are not well communicated to the public. As new information and new research comes out, the media needs to take that extra step to explain the changing landscape. "Science is a consensus building process," DiResta said. "Not something where we know the facts immediately, the moment that someone wants to be Googling for them."

“Science is a consensus building process,” DiResta said.

No. Science is driven by experimental proof. We don’t vote on the answer to a hypothesis.

“do your own research”

So individuals should come to their own decisions, from an individual standpoint?

As in no mandates and no universal answers/decisions?

This. Oh, man, so much "this"! I just don't trust the government, plain and simple. We've been lied to, pushed around, knocked down far too many times for me to suddenly say, "Why, sure! If you say so!"

Now, I just go with what I see (not "research", mind, but actually experience), and what I see is completely opposite to what I'm told.

Hey, just because we live in the Information Age when all the published scientific papers on COVID have been made freely available to anyone with a few clicks, that doesn’t mean you can rely on anything other than spoonfed DNC-CNN propaganda, plebes!

Ain’t that the truth. This really is an amazing age; where we can indeed with a few clicks grab the same published research doc to read.

And the reality is, perhaps I don’t understand all the details of a scientific paper, but if I read it I can understand the majority of it and I can certainly understand the statistics that provide proof, or not, to whatever the hypothesis of the study was.

The public would not have to do much research on their own if the once-trusted health authorities had not squandered that trust.

Now we have the worst possible situation... laymen who are unqualified to make judgements regarding treatment choices are left to their own devices.... the results of this are troubling.

IMO, focusing mainly on those at highest risk of bad outcomes if they contract covid is the proper way to go... treat them with monoclonal antibodies as a prophylactic measure.. the healthy might be better served by simply living a normal life, if they become infected they too can be treated with the antibodies at that point and should wind up with excellent long-term immunity...

The push to vaccinate the very young seems especially risky to me. If this virus had a high mortality rate among the young and healthy then cranking up the production of antibodies to a grand scale would be called for...a Manhattan Project for production and distribution...it could be done.

Don’t go looking into things.
Just do what we tell you.
You’re likely far too stupid to understand anyway.

I am from the government, trust me.

I am a scientist, trust me.

No I don’t think so.

“Four little words — “do your own research” — are hurting the US pandemic response,....”

Sure doesn’t help when many platforms are banning the truth and “fact checking”. Censorship is covering up the truth.

Those who love Big Brother know better than to do their own research. They understand that Ignorance is Strength. That’s why they watch Brian Selter on CNN.

No they actually are not the problem

This habitual refusal to address real concerns by the Lying media machine is the problem

What Brian, the lying media, are whining about here is that people are thinking for themselves instead of just mindlessly buying the lies spewed at them by the Jab Mafia’s propagandas machine.

Really ..I thought the words were “I am from the government and here to help” Seriously, If the government treated us like adults and explained away the misleading information instead of trying to censor it we might have better outcome. When the hydroxychloroquine controversy started, the Government said it could not be used for Covid unless it was part of an NIH approved study. I searched the NIH database of approved studies and found no properly designed study to test the effectiveness of the early use of the hydroxychloroquine+zinc protocol existed . The international database did show that studies in Iran were required to use hydroxychloroquine in the control group for all studies ( making them useless in determining the incremental value of hydroxychloroquine. If you don't ask the right question you are not likely to find a useful answer. I am not advocating use or non use of hyroxychloroquine. It creates distrust when the government can't even fund a study that tests the validate the of treatments advocated by medical practitioners.

Funny, the 4 deadliest words are what you'd hear from snot nosed millenials trying to justify socialism in spite of it failing miserably every time it was tried, THIS TIME IT'S DIFFERENT

I just watched a clip of Anthony Fauci stating emphatically, and condescendingly that ‘masks don’t work.’

The Mainstream Media thinks the reason I don’t understand how “masks don’t work” is true on some days and “mask work to save lives” is true on alternating days is because I don’t know how to research properly. :/

I try to outsource complex research by reading what verifiable experts like Dr. McCullough and Dr. Zelenko are saying. Apparently that means I am stupid and need the MSM to tell me what to think, too.

I tried ‘researching’ PubMed on the NIH website. The researcher indicated that the risk of ADE was ‘sufficiently obscured” from Covid 19 ‘vaccine’ trial participants to render ‘informed consent’ inoperable. I thought I was in the ballpark this time because Geert Vanden Bossche, Dr. Yeadon, Dr. McCullough and many, many other physicians are also worried about the known risks of ADE. Sadly, the MSM says I am stupid as long as I think for myself.
