Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke is preparing to run for governor of Texas in 2022, with an announcement expected later this year, Texas political operatives tell Axios.

Beto is a leftist - and he ran as such. He didn’t pretend to be virtually Republican like other Democrats,]. But he only lost to incumbent Ted Cruz by a tiny bit.
The same way two communists senators "won" Georgia.
Ted Cruz didn’t run a great campaign and it wasn’t a Presidential year so that’s why Beto overachieved that year. If it was either 2016 or 2020, Cruz would had done much better. At this rate, Texas may be 8 years from becoming the next “Georgia”. They’re on their way to becoming blue but they’re not there yet. On the other hand, you could say the same about NC. Or Florida. Things could change.
