The parliamentarian of the US Senate has issued a ruling declaring that an amnesty provision for millions of illegal aliens can’t be passed through the use of budget reconciliation, a legislative move allowing the Senate to pass laws with only 50 votes as opposed to 60.
Politico reported on Sunday that parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough ruled that the amnesty provision is not a budget-related matter, and thus cannot be included in legislation passable through use of budget reconciliation. The Democrat amnesty provision would’ve granted a quick path to citizenship for as many as eight million illegal immigrants broadly designated as “essential workers” under the giveaway scheme.
Democrats had sought to use the legislative trick to ram through a massive amnesty, unable to give away citizenship to illegal immigrants in a bill that would require 60 votes in the Senate.
It’s possible that the Democratic Party could still try to pass a budget with an amnesty provision, but it’s likely that the attempt would’ve met scrutiny from the Supreme Court or a lower court even if the Senate Parliamentarian had allowed it. The Senate parliamentarian ruling also makes it less likely that Democrats captive to conservative-leaning constituencies, such as Arizona’s Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema, will be willing to go along with attaching amnesty to an already broad, multibillion-dollar budget package including many of Biden’s campaign promises related to infrastructure and social programs.

We will see how that holds up! ...and there is a whole bunch more in there that ain't 'budgetary' also!
Correction
eight million illegal immigrants broadly designated as “essential democrat voters”
Looks like Manchin and Sinema are digging in their heels. I just went to the grocery store, they no longer have 12 packs of my favorite soda, it's been shrinkflated down to 8 for the same $2.99 price. I spent over $70 just on a dozen of so items.
Awesome!
Flimsey Grahamnesty and Micro Rubio were hoping to get the amnesty they’ve been working for their entire Senate careers without having to vote for it, this time.
Three cheers for Elizabeth!
Asked if a Freeper with legal knowledge if the Democrats could do this. The answer was no. Glad the parliamentarian held to the letter of the law.
Following the same procedure as with cloture for judges, I bet a Senator will make a point of order that the Parliamentarian is wrong, and all it will take is a majority vote on the point of order to overrule the Parliamentarian.
Then voila, amnesty can be in reconciliation forever!

I have wondered, will these Democrats allow a parliamentary procedural ruling from this anonymous parliamentarian bureaucrat, derail their plans to transform America??
Time will tell. I have my doubts this ruling will stop their attempts to ram through items such as an illegal alien amnesty.
She can no longer get life insurance.
God bless and protect Elizabeth MacDonough
What is the source of this 8 million figure? Is there a limit in the law, or is it open ended and really means 35 million illegals?
She isn’t anonymous since we know her name. Obscure, maybe, but not anonymous.
Yay!!!
