Naw not unless you plan to go some 1,000 miles east of the Fl coast.

I am in Tallahassee and getting pretty hard rain now but no wind. Earlier in the day they were calling this Invest 97. I guess it got stronger and earned a name.

Thanks for your local report. This system was low probability of development through this morning. NHC anticipated upgrade to TD at 4:30PM ET. 30 minutes later it was TS Mindy. Now it has made landfall. Dizzying pace. 💨🌊

I just looked at the radar and the eye went right over Apalachicola.

Every month or so.

I was expecting the panhandle to get the good part of Mindy’s tender touch. Surprised to see the string of storms across Central Florida from Tampa to Titusville. Klystron 9 shows the latest string of storms to have meso across the board. Wondering why we’re not under a tornado (yes, Joe, tornado) watch.

Thanks for your local report. Interesting info about tornadoes. The NHC reports Mindy is in a losing battle with wind shear.

I love the Klystron 9 weather radar out of Bay News 9 (Spectrum). I can zoom down right to the neighborhood, zoom out to see what is coming, turn on features such as storm direction, lightning strikes, watches and warnings, etc. It is worth anyone's while to try it out. That's where I usually see some storm cells tagged as mesocyclonic.
Oxford Dictionary:
mes·o·cy·clone /ˌmezəˈsīklōn/
noun Meteorology
noun: mesocyclone; plural noun: mesocyclones

a cyclonic air mass associated with a supercell; its presence is a condition for a tornado warning.
Yet a tornado watch, let alone a warning is rarely issued. Not a big deal here in Florida since we should be expecting anything from our daily thunderstorms. Just a curiosity, really.

“...and we are camping at Ft. Desoto park.”

I know that area somewhat. That had to have been more than a little scary.

Hi.

I hope you are doing well.

“That had to have been more than a little scary.”

The “No name” storm popped up quickly. Over only two or three hours. Off Sarasota. Got nasty so fast that Hurricane center couldn’t issue any warnings. Or a name.

Mucho damage and at least 5 deaths.

5.56mm

We’ve been up in the Kennebunkport, Maine area for a few days. The surf has been WILD since about Tuesday. I think it’s related to Hurricane Larry currently in the Atlantic, north of Bermuda. Anyone know for sure? (spotty internet coverage here)

Prolly Larry. Huge storm, very far away, disturbing surf.

I think so. Looks like Larry is headed to Newfoundland. I must admit I’m happy he isn’t headed directly to us in New England. Hope Mindy doesn’t do any damage anywhere.

Mindy was gone as quickly as it spun up.
