If the question is, “Could China take over Bagram now that we’ve left?” then the answer is “Yes.”
If the second question is, “But will they?” then the answer to that is, “Probably.”
US News & World Report revealed late on Tuesday that China’s military planners are “conducting a feasibility study about the effect of sending workers, soldiers and other staff” related to Beijing’s Belt and Road Initiative.
That’s according to Chinese officials who spoke to USN&WR on the condition of anonymity. But you can be sure that they had been authorized to speak from on high, signaling Communist China’s true intentions regarding post-Pax Americana Afghanistan.
Presidentish Joe Biden seems OK with that, too.
Exiting Marine One on the White House lawn last night, Biden was asked by a reporter, “Mr. President, are you worried that the Taliban will get funding from China?”
Biden answered, “Well, China has a real problem with the Taliban, so they’re going to try to work out some arrangement with the Taliban, I’m sure — as does Pakistan, as does Russia, as does Iran. They’re all trying to figure out, what do they do now. So it will be interesting to see what happens.”
Interesting is a word for it, yes.
The other word for it is: Awful.
I can say that with complete confidence because everything is proceeding as I have foreseen.
p>This is from my Insanity Wrap column from August 17:
It’s underappreciated that while we were busy jerking around in Afghanistan, Beijing was busy turning most of Subsaharan Africa into an economic colony.
They’ll do the same to Afghanistan, where there is an estimated trillion-with-a-T dollars worth of mineral wealth in them thar hills.
If recent history is any guide, China will pay protection money to the Taliban, while supplying them with enough weapons to keep relative peace by slaughtering infidels,

They can get all that from Pakistan and with a more stable, less fanatical government too.
Hi.
You’re correct.
Djibouti
Nice little facility they got there.
5.56mm
Zactly....Hence their debt bombs and the world sees the leadership of those countries fleeing for their lives, at some point, headed to their villas in Dubai or homes in Europe with all the money they stole.
China isn’t sending in troops. No need to. Might be some engineers and a few others involved with that work, as supervisors. Security and labor will be provided by the well paid Taliban.
If it goes sideways for China, Oh Well. It’s happened to them before.
Whatever else, China only wants the Tallies to stop the flow and training of their Uygars and other minorities in combat arms.
China isn't going into Afghanistan as an Enemy, they are going in as a Friend and Partner.
They value Human Life exactly the same as the Taliban do, as in they don't value it at all.
The Taliban will become China's version of Friends with Benefits. China won't be criticizing the Taliban for anything they will do, Beheadings, torture and subjugation of Women will go on without one word of condemnation from the Chinese.
China will move in and use it as a forward staging area for supply to Iran and an air base to threaten India proper. They will support the Taliban Emirate —they don’t care about how they treat women or girls. They can get along with Brutal despots (like themselves). Just like Putin has his Naval Base and air base in Syria. It makes perfect sense.
We just learned today there were actually George Floyd Murals in Kabul, painted by some "US based art group." If that doesn't scream out the arrogant, blind evangelical-like religion of the American Left and Fed.gov, I don't know what does.
China will say: "We have money and skill, you have the muscle - Let us form a partnership to run this mine, mill, or business, and we will both benefit." The Taliban 2.0 want this and China will be very cautious about every single project.
If China starts to get into regime-change or cultural supremacy (think gay pride or feminism) then yes, they will get eaten-up.

That’s the point, they won’t.
Unlike our so called Leaders, the Chinese aren’t stupid.
Additionally, they would never hand over a fully operational Air Base to us or anyone else. The idiocy of Xiden will cost us dearly, far beyond what the Taliban have received from us.
They have already measured for the drapes.
I would bet that Hunter has already negotiated this deal and Joe got his 10%, which means it will more than likely come to fruition by Christmas.
Count on it. China wants all the minerals, most especially lithium.
I believe China Biden 'owes' China some US military bases , and that is why he gave them Baghram, all that military hardware, and it's why he's working to keep American hostages in Afghanistan. China owns Biden. Biden owes China.
Installing cities of Afghanis within US military bases in America may be the only way he can cede homeland military bases to China. He'll just 'accidentally' lose control of them and they'd have hardware and bases. Wondering where these bases are located - China is 'choosy'. There is NO reason to put the enemy within the gates.
Is Biden going to give China 8 bases in US now receiving Afghan 'Refugees'?
Given the racist nature of the Chinese, it would not be surprising if they do give into imperial ambitions and if nothing else, the ensuing hijinks will be fun to watch.
A few Chinese corpses artfully displayed by the talibums will be entertaining to the rest of the world, especially Taiwan, India and Japan.
