plenty of medications are dual use, animal and human. they are demonizing ivermectin by insinuating it is for animals only.

Ivermectin supporters, who possibly weren’t able to acquire prescriptions for the drug from their physicians, may resort to the animal-version stocked in farm supply stores, not knowing the difference. Ivermectin for animals contain ingredients not tested for humans. “The recommended dose for animals by weight is much higher, and if people ingest ivermectin at that high dose, they’re likely to be poisoned,” says Michael Teng, a health virologist at the University of South Florida.

I remember the controversy over DMSO normally used for inflammation in horses. Now it is used for as a prescription medication for treating symptoms of painful bladder syndrome. It’s also used under medical supervision to treat several other conditions, including shingles and arthritis.
