Although I am Pro-life, I have concerns about the Texas law as written. It allows any citizen to file suit against an abortion provider. If the citizen wins, he gets at least $10,000. If the citizen loses, the abortion provider isn’t allowed to recover legal expenses.
If this law is allowed to stand, consider the liberal versions that will be created. Imagine California writing a similar law, allowing any citizen to file suit against churches that utter “hate speech”. Imagine Oregon writing a similar law, allowing any citizen to file suit against firearm stores for contributing to a murder. The suits would bankrupt churches, even if the churches win in court.
