BUT, the President of the United States tells this man he has one friggin' infantry battalion, use it wisely. Bagram is a huge base. One battalion can't secure it if it is under determined attack. Plus, Bagram is too far away from the Embassy to be able to support evacuations, if needed. Given that every option was a s#!t sandwich, the Airport was probably the best.
The fault lies with the President and his national security staff who imposed this moronic limit. AND, with General Woke Milley and his spineless Chiefs of Staff who failed to advise the President his plan could lead to disaster. What did McMaster call that when the Joint Chiefs failed to throw down with McNamara and Johnson for their moronic Vietnam war plans? Oh, yeah, Dereliction of Duty.
Great post. It was a succinct bigger picture of what really happened.
“Dereliction of Duty.”
Seems to me that also would apply to them (Milley/other Chiefs) sitting up there and not only just watching an uncontrolled INVASION coming across the Southern border but facilitating it with the use of military assets to fly elements of the invasion force across the country.
