The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said people who are severely vulnerable or immunocompromised — including solid organ transplant patients, people with advanced HIV and certain cancer patients — should try to get a booster shot as soon as they can.
But for people without severe immunocompromising conditions, getting a third dose soon after a second might actually be counterproductive, according to some public health experts.
In an interview with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell this week, Dr. Anthony Fauci said people would be wise to give their immune systems a chance to “mature” before rushing to get a booster.
“I think that might defeat the purpose, and that’s the reason why we landed at eight months,” Fauci said, adding that the U.S. government could only recommend an eight-month period and otherwise leave personal decisions in the hands of the general population.
Deepta Bhattacharya, professor of immunobiology at the University of Arizona, echoed Fauci’s comments, telling NBC News that getting a booster soon after a second shot “raises the possibility that it won’t work that well.”

Fauci says to wait a while? I’ll call CVS this evening.
Doing the opposite of what this quack says to do is proven to be prudent.
Agreed...unless we all refuse in mass...they can’t fire everyone.
They are supposed to wait until they can compel conservatives into the great purge. Right now if all the vaxxed people die, they will be stuck with millions of ungovernable conservatives
Like Faux-chi knows any damn thing about it...
“I didn’t say Fauci Sez yet!”
“...And after dropping off your mail-in ballots—ballot!”
Has that been proven? I remember reading about the efficacy of Pfizer, but not that it was ineffective. Do you have a citation handy? It's getting really difficult without a scorecard.
No, I'm not getting the shots with the efficacy in question; the need for boosters as Covid quickly mutates; the bad reactions to the jabs; and now proven therapeutics. I will continue to use at LEAST 70% alcohol on my hands and any items before entering the house. Bags go into the trash and then I spray every angle of items, including the mail. I even spray my hands with pure alcohol on the car interior handle and seat belt strap once in.
I'm 71 and take Zinc with Quercetin, large (not crazy) amounts of D and C, Multi Vitamin/Mineral complex, and exercise almost every day. Plus, I'm on testosterone replacement therapy every two weeks. That probably also helps my immune system. TMI?
I was wondering what happened to the little bastard.
I haven’t seen him all week.
Female 30-40 years old, 3rd shot, severe abdominal pain 10/10 with the bandaid still on her arm. All members of the house wearing cloth masks. Coincidence?
Especially after that.
Parking lot.....more like another time zone
The reason for the US 8 month interval is not medical. It is logistical. If they were to just open the booster to anyone then there would be the same mad, uncontrolled, rush as with the first shot. The 8 month interval just creates an orderly process for getting booster.
Israel is currently giving booster shots to people over 60. They are not required the 8 month interval.
Define effective...if you go back and read their (CDC) statements...the vaccine should reduce symptoms if you get infected with Sars-CoV2...it was never meant to be a silver bullet. From that start Pfizer and others hinted booster shots would be need at regular intervals ...even Gates was saying last year we might need several shots a year. Canada has ordered 200 million does for 38 M people...the Europeans have ordered billions. What does that tell you.
