“All of this for...”a few mean tweets???
“Democrats are paper tigers who betray everybody they can.”
When George Washington gave his farewell speech from public service he told the country that it would be wise to not become engaged and entangled with foreign governments.
Why?
Maybe Democratic republics cannot provide long-term support because of the nature of the election process. Not that the process is corrupt, but because we go from one wiley extreme to the other politically. At this point I would think that world governments what we really are, our stability runs in roughly 50 year increments followed by 50 years of complete political insanity.
It is observably cyclic. We go from war to peace, economic ups and downs. Globally it is not reassuring. There is a thread of a republic but it’s very thin and it’s become very strained, and if we ever want stability at a global level we would probably need to re-establish the stalwart Republic and not this squishy democracy.
China deserves an Afghanistan for a while. The Taliban also deserves China. Let’s see how they get along after a donkey cart full of lithium ore goes thru six different shakedown extortion payments to move 100 miles to processing?
We are definitely In Trouble.
All it would take now, is one silent “grid-bomb” and we’d be finished...
When China invades Taiwan Biden will send a sternly worded letter.
Our Defense budget has been in the $650 Billion dollar per year range in 2017-2019 time frame and we have been spending $44+ billion of that in Afghanistan\
Afghanistan has been sucking our defense budget dry and draining funds needed to retool our military away from playing wack a mole with illiterate Taliban with rusty AK 47s to building and deploying next generation fighters, UAVS, hypersonic and space vehicles, battle field robotics (look at what Boston Robotics is doing these days) , new tanks ( the M1 is a 50 years old design which has lost it's edge ) , new infantry weapons, new thermal night vision, new naval vessels and training a new generation of warriors.
Afghanistan was sucking up money needed to maintain our existing forces and modernize to keep emerging threats like China from intimidating and fighting places like Taiwan, Japan and India.
Now we can spend the money and concentrate efforts on kicking China’’s ass
Barak Obama called Afghanistan "the good war" because Afghanistan is know as the "Graveyard of Empires" and he wanted to use Afghanistan to wear down and drain our military power and demoralize our troops. He wanted to grind our military into the Afghan dust in a losing cause supporting a corrupt government ( that he helped corrupt)
Don't give Biden any breaks. He doesn't deserve them - not just because of this, but because of his many many years spent as a self-serving, arrogant, narcissistic parasite on the American taxpayer.
She’s already fallen, the world’s system of “reality” is not sustainable ..it is not God’s way. Babylon has fallen...we became Babylon when this administration turned against Israel, and the commandments..expect judgement to be forthcoming..
Sometimes, the truth hurts.
It wasn't just the democrats. It was the free traitors on the right who conned us into funding the communist military buildup, at the expense of our allies, with our free trade deals. The GOP signed off on those deals, and Rush and many Freepers supported them.
We chose communist slave labor over our own Vets and children just to save a few pennies.
Now we want to point the finger at the democrats for being weak against the monster we created.
Notice my tagline doesn't say "democrats" or "the left". That's because there is plenty of blame to go around.
Afghanistan is no ally. It was more a relationship of convenience for them. As long as we kept giving them money and equipment they behaved. As soon as we start the pullout they turn on us.
Taiwan has an armed forces that will actually fight and defend itself. Bit of a difference. China would do well to remember that.
China a can win with a tight air/sea embargo. Taiwan lasts about 2 months if that happens.
“Could Biden have said, “no. We’re not leaving?” “
Great question. An answer in the form of a question is did the US have plans in the event that the Taliban violated / began taking over the country? In June the Taliban was marching toward Kabul while we were pulling out and simultaneously Xiden assured Americans that the [paper] Afghan govt was superior to them. Why give that assurance? 20 years and a trillion dollars plus American blood? Looks like exit was the only plan. Not saving Americans, destroying equipment that could not be left behind, keeping control of the AFB, etc. could have been a plan. I went out and read a bunch of Xiden supporters’ comments this morning. They are praising Xiden, saying getting out of Afghan as it actually happened was an act of bravery, political courage, the right thing to do. A good bet is that Xiden is surrounded by people like this, and made the decision for him that he had to read on a teleprompter.
Xiden inherited W’s “go-after-terrorists-to-failed-nation-building” policy and Trump’s seeing that after 20 years there was nothing more to gain. This could have happened on Trump’s watch, but it did not so no one knows what Trump would have really done. We can Monday morning QB all day long. There is no doubt however that the media and kkkraps would be spazzzing out about Trump and calling for his removal from office 24/7. (There shouldn’t be need for Trump to speak now. Maybe if he runs again. Xiden is doing a great job of screwing himself. But with the media blaming Trump and the GOP en mass not coming to his defense, Trump once again has to speak out else their lies will morph into “public truth.”)
But Xiden was held out there as Mr Foreign Policy genius, the guy, he said, in the debates that the international community wanted in the WH, the “grown adult” returning to the WH after the unstable Trump upset the professional parasites in the State Dept. Xiden failed, and he was clueless - 30 days prior predicting a strong Afghan govt while Taliban was taking over and the corrupt govt officials were lining their pockets to flee the country.
I will give Xiden no benefit of a scintilla of any doubt. He owns the failure.
...or New Zealand or Australia...
It they can establish it. Easier said than done. The Taiwanese military isn't going to sit on its hands and do nothing.
RU kidding? THE PLAN could clamp down that island anytime it wants to. The Taiwan AF lasts about a day.
She's not wrong.
Good point. And the CCP did not come to this realization now. They viewed the US this way for decades. Vietnam. Even .... the aircraft they captured under Bush, and made the US take it apart piece by piece to remove it from the island like a humiliated paper tiger after losing in small claims court. The US response should have been to bomb it in place once CCP said it could not be flown out.
We were there for 20 years. They could not learn how to keep control by now they never would have. Should have been building the troops
