So either those three didn’t bother to consult the experts, or they simply ignored the experts.
Expert, now that’s a term to describe someone who completely knows and understands one single fact. The problem is no expert sees the big picture. One reason Trump was good any many things is the ability to see the Big Picture. His failings were the result of experts.

I agree with that. But what the author said here was really basic stuff. Anyone with any knowledge of Afghanistan would have known it.
