Straw man: A straw man is a form of argument and an informal fallacy of having the impression of refuting an argument, whereas the real subject of the argument was not addressed or refuted, but instead replaced with a false one.
The argument that Sweden is equal in any scientific way to Australia or The USA is the very definition of the Straw man fallacy. Sweden is a low population low density country. Sydney metro area with 5.5 million vs DFW with 6.5 million both over comparable areas is a valid comparison. NYC Tokyo and Mexico City all valid. Sweden vs Denmark valid. Paris vs Houston marginal at best paris has twice the density.
The usage is important. The way you people think, only liberals like you get to define what a straw man is. And it’s pretty much anything from our side that you don’t like. When you pump up false numbers from the cdc, that’s not a straw man to you so it’s not a straw man for anybody. Because you’re the authoritative one right? Wrong.
