You’re right. There’s no proof that he did, just the allegation. So with effectively no police force to investigate and make an arrest, and effectively no judicial process, other than an automatic release, how do you propose to prove the case that he did or didn’t.
He’s dead. Somebody killed him. Suppose he was really a solid citizen, and he was really murdered in cold blood for a trifle, and then slandered posthumously. Given these limitations, how do you prove that?
So what you’re left with is presumably vigilante justice and a dead body. Sucks. But Dillon’s been chased out of Dodge, and all you’re left with are a couple of dodgy sidekicks, Festus, Newly and Chester, one of whom kills people and leave messages in crayon over why. Don’t know which of them, except Festus is illiterate so it was probably either Chester or Newly, or both. Case dismissed. Next.
