Evil Oil is everywhere , byproduct from the earth’s core
Would the developers be protected from subsequent state confiscation if the drilling starts yielding some results. If not, who would invest?
The world is transitioning out of demographic golden age. The generation born after WWII is the largest in history. As this huge cohort aged, they invested more and more wealth. This made astonishing amounts of capital available resulting in riskier and riskier investments. Enron.
When the last of that generation retires by 2025 they will stop investing and put their money in less risky things. The follow-on generations are smaller, and smaller still. Just by their numbers, they can’t generate the wealth that is required for far flung investments, like Uganda. From this point forward, if you’re in some third world (phrase here) you won’t find financing for anything. That’s because as money gets scarcer there will be more lucrative and safer investments closer to home.
Africa seems be an up & comer in the oil business. I’ve read where Namibia is sitting on a potentially giant oil field, as well as offshore.
My concern is the political risk to investors in dealing with African governments.
I think this means an invasion is coming soon
