The United States Capitol Police (USCP) will open new regional offices in response to increased threats to members of Congress since the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, the police agency announced Tuesday.
The first announced two field offices will open in California and Florida, with additional states expected in the "near future," acting USCP Chief Yogananda Pittman said in a statement Tuesday. The purpose will be "to investigate threats to Members of Congress."

This is a step in the process to setting up the federal police force to fill the void created by "defund the police".

these guys are federales. the only rationale for their existence outside DC that i can think of is to be used as advance guards to knock down “uprisings” of “extremists” who are alleged to be “disrupting” the 2022 and 2024 “voting process.” basically they could be used as rear guard for sweeping in and furthering whatever is left after antifa has done its share of mischief. pro-trump and pro-usa candidates will be silenced. pro-trump and pro-usa political rallies will be decimated, with violence and arrests if necessary.
Their jurisdiction is Capitol Hill, that’s it.
No reason for them to have satellite offices.

Where exactly do the US Capitol police get authority to operate anywhere outside of the US Capitol?

And while Chicago would like to have the strictest gun laws, they do not. You’d have to look to places like NYC, New Jersey, or MD for that.
This raises an interesting question, aside from the Federal vs. State jurisdiction issue. Because of the Separation of Powers doctrine, would any executive branch agency, like the FBI or DHS have the authority to interfere with the Capitol Police? Would any Federal Court ruling apply to it? I would think not.
