I’m curious about where the 30% number came from. Before the Diamond Princess got swept from the “news” I heard that 80% of the passengers/crew resisted infection even though exposed.
Over a year ago, when science mattered, there was some discussion of T-cell immunity but that subject doen’t seem to fit the narrative now.

NYS has done and is doing all of that. That has been admitted to by various public officials and health system spokesflaks around the state.
NYS has also admitted to attributing deaths from probables, deaths with CoupFlu to death stats.
Now given how much the NYS numbers have influenced national policy, how the heck do we know anything for certain about CoupFlu?

The CDC estimates “Total Disease Burden” (the number of people that have actually been exposed/infected, rather than just those who tested positive). They use multiple statistical measures, and a variety of sampling methods, such as sampling random blood draws taken for routine medical procedures (seroprevalence study) and even testing sewage to estimate the viral load in an area.
As of 14 April 2021, they estimated that about 115 million Americans have been infected.
