Sounds like it’s time to consult the historical records of our neighbors to the south- of how and why to this day they hold dear the famous name - Matamoros. Most famous is just across the border from Brownsville, but is so named in other areas. Dates back to the Middle Ages when Spain’s patron saint- St. James was called upon by the king for help in the destruction of 60,000 Moors. To this day they hold the name “ Matamoros “
