If that’s the way she feels, she should quit the team. If she stays on the team, she is admitting she’s in it for her own glory and not in representing the US. The US Olympic Committee should not waste another dollar on supporting her.

Sometimes - an athlete will peak too soon in a run up to a major event. I suspect that this athlete may be regretting all the attention she is getting with the Olympics still a month away. Rest assured, she will be watched carefully in Tokyo.

She does not have the right to engage in so-called peaceful protest activities if she agreed to be a representative of the country by accepting a position on a team who’s function is to represent a country. You forfeit that right by accepting membership.
