I was out working in my yard the other day and someone stopped and asked if I wanted to sell my 1993 Ford Ranger that has 257,000 miles on it. I said no...don't even want to hear a price. I use that truck every day.

I have a 2017 Honda Ridgeline that I don't use much. This is the last vehicle I'll ever own.

Jeep means just empty every pocket.

I have two that do a fine job of it. Me being super picky about rust, grease, grime, and whatnot is a handicap.

My mistake, I owe $10,671 and my Honda Accord Sport has 47,371 miles on it.

Should I buy a newer car?
I am thinking stay with the car. How newer can I get : )
No issues with current one that I bought in May 2019 and hardly drove since March 2020 to now.

We have all been there my FRiend.

Yes, cars were cheaply acquired and sold in the old days. Back in the 1960's and early 1970's I owned and sold many cars, many of them in really great condition. I had a beautiful cherry red '58 Impala, bought for $75 and sold for $150. A '56 Chevy bought for $100 and sold for $100 (I did mods including a straight front axle and custom interior). A '63 Chevy I bought at a police auction for $12 (hooked up a battery and drove it off the lot), fixed it all up and sold it for $275. Another '63 Chevy coupe I sold for $300. My favorite was a '57 Chevy coupe I got for $15, although it had no drive train - I traded a set of mag wheels for it that had cost me $15; put in a 327ci engine and Muncie 4-spd trans as well as header pipes and air shocks, etc. I didn't mind selling it for $300 as I got everything cheap. Also had a '64 Cutlass, bought for $75 and sold for same. Cars were cheap!

“Jeep means just empty every pocket.”

Things sure changed after Chrysler got them. Granted, my 1995 Wrangler has crank up windows but after 335,000 miles the only things I replaced were a couple of water pumps and alternators. My mechanic couldn’t believe that the rear drum brakes had never been overhauled!

Like you, I’m picky about stuff and keep it garaged. Hardly a week goes by without a compliment - many times from people who were not even born when it was made :)

Interesting. I’ve had two online offers from them.
I can only guess that they were doing it due to the Kung Flu, even though I did get an online quote a month ago.
Could also be a regional thing.

Or, a friend was in the used car business years ago. He and is partner would buy cars at auction, get them running right and flip them. Made his money on affordable cars and else’s volume.

The. Soetero showed up and destroyed the entire used car world.

I have my Willys partly apart now to get the body and major mechanical straight. People compliment it seeing it in the garage.

The few who have seen the somewhat reassembled CJ7 really like it.

Eventually both of them and the K5 will be sent off for bigger jobs that aren’t practical for me to pull when I can afford it.

In the meantime, I do what I can and buy stuff for someday.

Go and try to buy a 67-77 Ford Bronco. And I don’t care that the news ones are coming out.

Wrecked my 02 Ranger day after Christmas. (loved that truck) The next week I bought an 18 Frontier cash (length limitation in garage) KBB private sale value today is greater than $5,000 more than I paid. Here in WV, pick ups new AND quality used are getting very hard to find so they are drawing a premium.

(still liked my Ranger better)

So, should I put my 98 Tacoma on the market for $20,000? There is some paint and it doesn’t knock much.

I recently did a NADA lookup of my 2016 Silverado 1500 and the clean retail price is higher than what I paid for it brand new five years ago. That’s how crazy it is out there. I’d be tempted to sell it, but it’s at my Arizona winter house and I’m not going down there just to sell it. Besides, I couldn’t replace it at a decent price now anyway. I need it to pull the travel trailer that’s also worth more now than what I paid for it.

I’ve often thought that I should buy a good clean used Jeep Wrangler. Drive it for a year. Then sell it for what I paid for it. If not even more. Then repeat the process.

I just did a NADA price check on my 2015 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon and clean retail is more than what I paid for it in 2015.

Even swap for a Pacer? :)
