New York City officials are ready to move nearly 8,000 homeless residents out of some 60 hotels and back into congregate shelters, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Wednesday, as the city continues to see record-low COVID infections.
'It is time to move homeless folks who were in hotels for a temporary period of time back to shelters, where they can get the support they need,' de Blasio said at his daily press briefing.
'In shelters is where we can provide support, a variety of services and the pathway out of shelter and into a better life,' he said.

I think the DM changed the title. I copied and pasted the exact title as originally published.
Imagine all the used syringes, liquor bottles and dirty spoons. I’m sure these places will require a hazmat team to clean up. The homeless took over a small park across the street from my employer in Brooklyn. It was a beautiful little place. Now it’s full of human waste, dirty needles, empty MD2020 bottles and filthy blankets. It’s tragic. Also almost always the smell of pot smoke fills the air there.
Could be. No worries.
Who is paying for the cleaning, painting, replacing remodeling that is surely going to be required.
'In shelters is where we can provide support, a variety of services and the pathway out of shelter and into a better life,' he said.
Why do they need services? Homeless people are just like you and me. Only evil Republicans claim that homeless people are disproportionately mentally ill or addicted to drugs. We're all just a paycheck away from being homeless. And if we lost that paycheck, why would we need anything more than a nice hotel room and financial support while we look for another job?
New York City’s Golden Age had ended. 1994 - 2020. New York City was so bad that they voted for a Republican to clean up the city. Bloomberg was wise enough to continue Guilani’s policies. Now the city is just returning to its old self. All the wealthy people can afford bodyguards and security guards at their buildings so what’s the big deal?
They tend to do that. They try to get the most views with their headlines.
By the time the hotels restore their facilities to sanitary habitable condition, they will not have much left to show for it all.
From 2018...
Bet they’re still doing it...
And the locals are allowing it.
We'll need a mob of Paul Kerseys to correct that, since the cops are forbidden to do so.
