Like cancer, the progressive disease of "progressivism" is quite literally attacking healthy political parts of our Republic's body. "Progressives" aren't doing this intentionally as they just want to flee the potentially fatal disease they have inflicted where they now fester, but that's what they'll do because, well, because they have learned to despise what they profess to love.
