Ever since I read Tom Clancy’s book “The Bear and the Dragon”
I have thought that some day the Russian and the American people would some day be allies.

We share two common rivals: China and Islamic extremists.

Russia does not need to invade Europe. It can control them with the natural gas and oil they need. That is also why Russia needs to control Syria. To keep a pipeline from the middle east from reaching Turkey/Europe.

By making oil and natural gas plentiful, the Trump administration controlled Russia and the middle eastern oil exporters. That is why it was silly to think that Putin would actually try to help get Trump reelected. Trump was costing Putin money.

Ditto.

We share two common rivals: China and Islamic extremists.

And for the same reason.

We have successfully been allies in the past against the existential threat of Hitler and fascism.

Expansionist China and expansionist islam are no less a threat today. If you think politics makes strange bedfellows, wait until you see what cornered rats fighting together for raw survival does!
